Here are some details from her past and present ahead of the imminent arrival at JET & CO of a new collection of Shell Work, which Blott has created for London Craft Week 2020.
Growing up in North Wales, Blott Kerr-Wilson began her career in shells when she created her first grotto in her council flat bathroom in South East London. This captured the attention of Min Hogg and she won the ‘Design a Room’ competition run by The World of Interiors, which helped to launch a career which has seen her travel the world creating grottoes, bespoke artworks and home commissions. Her unique designs are informed by the mathematical nature of the shells, their shape and variety of colour.
“Blott Kerr -Wilson is the most innovative shell artist working today" - Ingrid Thomas, author of 'The Shell: A World of Decoration and Ornament'.
The Collection at 20a Pimlico Road will involve fantastical obelisks and shell encrusted planters, which will be on display in our window throughout Craft week. Blott will also be there also in person at least on Wednesday 30th September and Thursday 1st October.
