Following our launch at Decorex 2017, the newly refurbished Yorke Arms was one of our first customers, using the Hunters Autumn wallpaper from the JET Collection. A meeting with a very complimentary Hugh Graham Watson from Hotel Guru prompted Susanna and I to do what we had wanted to do for months and we booked in for two nights at the end of December.
The famous old hotel, situated beautifully at the head of the reservoir in Nidderdale in the middle of the unspoilt Yorkshire Dales village of Ramsgill, had been closed for a few months early in 2018 for a complete refurbishment. The result in terms of comfort and hospitality is wonderful with the restaurant proving more than worthy of its Michelin star.
There is a strong link between Susanna’s grandmother Jet, who produced the original designs on which the JET Collection is based, and this area.
Indeed we are sure that the freshness and originality of the design for the Hunters wallpaper comes from her time in the 1930s when as a recently orphaned 17 year old she stayed with her uncle in Yorkshire, did some hunting with the local hunt and went first to Art school in York.
We loved our stay including seeing our wallpaper in situ and would STRONGLY recommend this hotel to anyone wanting excellent food and hospitality, while being temporarily removed from the day to day pressures of normal 21st Century life.
